Using passwords to protect backups from unauthorized access.
Compressed files, based on major compression formats can be protected by passwords.
This passwords are used for encrypting on creating archive, and for decrypting
on extracting files from backup.
D_back software completely uses this feature and
offers the flexibly data protection strategy for various situations.
Go to the
Encrypting sheet, and take a look at the passwords settings.
Four encrypting modes can be selected there:
- Protection is disabled - this is a default mode for a new .bks file;
- Static password -
this option requires a password,
which should be defined on the same sheet in the password field.
The password is static - it means,
that it does not changed before each creating of backup;
- Random password -
the program generates new
random password before each backing up;
- To enter password manually -
before each backing up the user must specify a new password by self.
Note:
All passwords are saved in the [PASSWORDS] section of the .bks file for future use.
If password protection is ON, then on extracting files, you must
enter a valid passwords by self.
